David Clarke has lived in Hong Kong since 1986. An art historian as well as a photographer, he is currently Professor in the Department of Fine Arts of the University of Hong Kong. Clarke has written about art in China, Europe and America, and has had a particular engagement with Hong Kong and its culture, expressed through both his writing and his photographic work. Clarke’s artworks have been widely exhibited, both in Hong Kong and overseas. Two books of his photos have been published, both by Hong Kong University Press: Reclaimed Land: Hong Kong in Transition (2002) and Hong Kong x 24 x 365: A Year in the Life of a City (2007).
